Tube Bundle Manufacturing for Shell and Tube Heat Exchangers
Time :2026-02-03

Inside the Tube Bundle Structure

The tube bundle is the core heat transfer component of a shell and tube heat exchanger. It consists of:

  • Heat transfer tubes

  • Tube sheets

  • Support plates or baffles

  • Tie rods and spacers

In this project, high-purity copper tubes were used to maximize thermal conductivity, while carbon steel tube sheets provided strong mechanical strength and pressure resistance.

This combination ensures both high efficiency and long-term durability.

Functional Role in the Entire Heat Exchanger System

The tube bundle defines how heat is exchanged between two fluids. One fluid flows inside the tubes, while the other flows on the shell side around the bundle.

Its main functions include:

  • Providing large heat transfer surface area

  • Separating two process fluids safely

  • Maintaining pressure boundaries

  • Supporting thermal expansion

Without a well-designed tube bundle, the overall performance of the heat exchanger would be significantly compromised.

Custom Engineering Based on Customer Drawings

This project was completed strictly according to customer-provided drawings. Our engineering team carefully reviewed:

  • Tube layout and pitch

  • Tube diameter and length

  • Tube sheet thickness

  • Expansion or welding methods

We also verified alignment, tolerances, and assembly feasibility before production, ensuring that the final product fits seamlessly into the customer's existing system.

Precision Manufacturing and Quality Assurance

During fabrication, each step was tightly controlled:

  • Tube cutting and cleaning

  • Tube-to-tube sheet expansion and welding

  • Dimensional inspection

  • Leak testing and strength verification

Special attention was paid to copper tube handling to avoid deformation and ensure uniform expansion. All critical joints were inspected to guarantee mechanical integrity and sealing performance.

Flexibility for Different Industrial Applications

This tube bundle solution is suitable for a wide range of industries, including:

  • Power generation

  • HVAC systems

  • Marine cooling systems

  • Chemical and process industries

With flexible material selection, dimensional customization, and structural design, tube bundles can be adapted to almost any thermal system requirement. This project once again confirms our ability to provide fully customized tube bundle solutions that combine high performance, precise manufacturing, and real-world engineering practicality.
