ASME U Tube Bundle

The U-tube bundle is the “core heat transfer unit” of the shell and tube heat exchanger, and its function is to realize the heat exchange between the tube-stream and shell-stream media through the tube wall:

Tube range medium: usually corrosive, easy to scale or high-pressure fluids (such as chemical raw materials, high-temperature steam), flowing inside the U-shaped tube.

Shell medium: generally clean, low-pressure or high-flow fluids (such as cooling water, hot air), flowing outside the tube bundle, through the flushing of the tube wall and the medium inside the tube heat exchange.

Advantageous scenario: Because the U-tube without tie rods or fixed-pitch tube interference, the shell flow of fluid circulation area is large, suitable for high-viscosity, particle-containing media (to reduce the risk of clogging).
